Vesta, a manufacturer of custom medical components and devices, has announced the development of a new rubber compound that provides improved wear resistance and durability for medical equipment. The compound is specifically designed for use in devices that come into contact with harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
The new rubber compound, called VESTENAMER® additive, is a non-reactive, processing aid that enhances the mechanical and dynamic properties of thermoplastics. The compound can be used in a broad range of medical applications where the traditional elastomeric materials are insufficient.
According to Vesta, the new compound offers significant advantages over traditional materials, including improved chemical resistance, superior wear resistance, and enhanced resistance to abrasion and tear. The compound is also easy to process and has a high degree of compatibility with most thermoplastics, including polyethylene and polypropylene.
The VESTENAMER® additive has been tested extensively and is approved for use in medical equipment that comes into contact with human tissue, body fluids, or pharmaceutical products, where the highest level of safety standards are required.
"We are extremely excited to introduce VESTENAMER® additive to the medical device industry," said Derek Yee, VP of Vesta's Elastomer Technologies Group. "The new compound has demonstrated exceptional performance characteristics and versatility, making it an ideal material for a broad range of medical components and devices. We believe that this new product will help our customers improve the lifetimes of their devices while increasing patient safety."
